Itinerary

We start at the Cherwell Boathouse and meander by the playing fields of the Dragon School, whose former pupils include Hugh Laurie ("House") and Harry Potter star Emma Watson.

We glide gently through the University Parks past Lady Margaret Hall, founded in 1878 for women only, the first time they had been allowed to study at Oxford.

Continuing our relaxing exploration downstream, we eventually arrive at the (former) nudist bathing site for Oxford Dons, Parson's Pleasure, where we turn round and wend our way lazily back.

Time and Start Point

The best Oxford punting station by far is the Cherwell Boathouse on Bardwell Road, OX2 6ST, an excellent riverside restaurant and bar with plenty of outside space for drinking, dining,or a coffee as you watch and smile at the novice punters falling in!

Open from 1000am to 1000pm. (10:00 to 22:00).

Plenty of parking, and if the boathouse car park is busy there are spaces in the streets round about.
